OIG Turns Up the Heat on Medicare Overpayments

In a story that seems to repeat itself over and over, the OIG has uncovered more improper Medicare payments, this time associated with Medicare administrative contractors (MACs). Two recent OIG reports (covering former Jurisdictions 13 and 14) discovered that two MACs made $4 million in overpayments to providers for outpatient drugs between July 2009 and June 2012.
